Creativity must be cared for, like plants in a garden
My name is Laura Gabriel, Iām a sustainably focused textile artist with a dreamy joyful aesthetic. My practice includes various textile mediums like sewing, embroidery and screen printing. Im inspired by thrifting, vintage stores, flora, fauna and the beauty in everyday life.
There is so much textile waste produced globally, so I am very conscious of where I source my materials, aiming mainly for thrifted or dead-stock fabric, and when possible buying natural fibres. I save scraps from all projects, and try my best to limit waste whenever feasible, there is so much potential in every piece of fabric I see no matter the size.
I use textiles as a way to communicate with the world and express my feelings and dreams, mixing colour ,pattern and opacity to create joyful and reflective work based on my life, connecting me to others and myself.
Lauras Art Garden was established in 2020 by Laura Gabriel.
